Hi everyone
I have a very original 1968 cooper into which I recently installed cobra classic seats on minispares subframes, as the original tilting non-locking seats are too uncomfortable for long journeys. The car is in very good condition. While the car was in a workshop for an unrelated job, I asked the guys to drop the car off for an MOT at a testing station on the same estate. Big mistake.
The car failed due to insecure seats, despite leaving the factory with non-locking tilting seats. I offered to fit the original seats but they said it wouldn't make any difference. I suggested they'd misunderstood the guidelines and asked them to reconsider. They offered to contact DVSA for advice. They came back to advise that DVSA upheld the fail but I can appeal.
Now the interesting bit. I went online to call up the small amount of recent MOT history I have to show that the car has passed its MOT with no issues in recent years. I found that my MOT history has been wiped, the make of car has been changed from Austin to Rover, and the date of first registration has been changed. I smell a rat but would be grateful for advice before I phone DVSA.
Any advice gratefully received.

I would find an MOT station that does Classic Cars. by the way your car doesn't need an MOT. It's Tax and MOT exempt.

I do normally use a local station but on this occasion I used another only as my car was in for an unrelated job and I asked the workshop to drop it off as it was convenient. Wish I hadn't! I have two MOT exempt cars but choose to have them tested.

Update. My workshop intervened, and the testing station has now decided to revise it to an advisory. What a faff. I still need to get the original MOT records reinstated.
