Noticed a few times this morning, downshifting from fourth to third gear - when I release the clutch (after shifting into third) there is a brief noise like gears meshing still? Doesn't seem to affect the car yet other than the noise.
Could my clutch be having engagement problems?
Fresh gearbox with maybe 3500 km on it.

The difference between 4th and the other gears is it fastens the input gear directly to the end of the mainshaft. In every other gear the input gear rotates relative to the mainshaft on the needle roller bearing between them.  You would expect any bearing noise would more likely be permanent while the bearing's spinning, so it could be the 3rd gear synchro mesh. you could try double declutching  to see if there's any difference.

Without hearing it, it's a stab in the dark.

The Primary Gear Bushes can make a noise when free running on the crank.

Any chance you could take some video with clear sound ? You won't be able to up-load direct to the forum, but load it somewhere else, and then put a link to it here.

it hasn't done it for a while, it did make it again today when I went from 1st to neutral while driving at low speed.

1st is a bit "noisier" than usual as well but maybe its just the summer heat thinning the oil a bit? 

I swear I can hear a bit more noise from what could be the idler bearing? I've also been told higher lift cams can be a bit noisier (MG Metro grind cam, parkerized too) but its all new from Dec '24 with oil changes every 3-4 months with Driven GP1 20W50 + k&n oil filter or wix.

Maybe I'm just being paranoid??
