Evening all,

 

You may have seen my posts a few weeks ago that, after my mini has thrown issue after issue each week, seeing oil leak from within the autobox was the last straw. 

 

My key point is the oil leak didn't exist before I took apart the entire inlet manifold to change a blown manifold gasket. 

 

Racking my brain and many forum searches, it's either bad timing, and the seals within the gearbox have perished, or there is pressure building up in the system when I have re-fitted everything, forcing oil through the gearbox. To note, the oil leak is via the gearbox. 

 

I have genuinely been gutted that due to life getting in the way, I haven't been able to explore the causes, but with a free weekend coming up, I thought I'd ask if anyone could advise where to look for blockages, where to clean, filter, etc. 

 

The car is 95spi and does roughly 80k miles. To my best knowledge, I think the whole engine system is original. 

 

Ideally, I'd like to try any low-cost remedy first to see if I have overlooked anything. If the gearbox has failed, realistically I cannot afford the costs to remove, fix or swap to a manual and would be forced to sell.

Changing a blown manifold gasket would have no effect on causing an oil leak from the automatic transmission.

More detail is needed if you want help and advice, like where exactly is the oil leaking out from the autobox and how much, is it a slow drip or pouring out, only when engine running and hot or even when parked up?

Cleaning the autobox casing and then placing clean cardboard underneath the engine when parked overnight, can sometimes help pinpoint the location an oil leak.
