Hi all,
Reluctantly, I'm offering my 1991 Rover Mini Cooper for sale due to changing family circumstances.
This is a genuine matching VIN and engine numbers car that underwent a comprehensive, well-documented restoration completed in 2017 and has covered just under 2,000 miles since.
The aim of the rebuild was to return the car as closely as possible to original factory specification while improving long-term reliability where appropriate.
The shell was completely stripped, inspected and professionally repaired where required, with all structural bodywork and paintwork carried out by Wood & Pickett before being refinished in the correct factory colour. The headlining was also professionally fitted by Wood & Pickett during the restoration.
Mechanically, the engine and gearbox were rebuilt from the ground up. The engine has been rebored to +0.040" (approx. 1310cc) with a professionally balanced crankshaft and rebuilt differential. A full nut-and-bolt rebuild was carried out using genuine Mini Spares components wherever possible, together with quality upgraded parts where they offered improved durability. The car also benefits from a brand new genuine rear subframe and a professionally reconditioned front subframe.
The original Cooper interior has been retained, including the correct seats and door cards. The original steering wheel was professionally re-leathered in January 2026 using the correct leather and iconic red stitching.
The car sits on professionally refurbished original Minilite alloy wheels fitted with Falken tyres in excellent condition.
The underside is exceptionally solid and, as part of ongoing preventative maintenance, has recently been cleaned and recoated to provide continued protection and peace of mind for the next owner.
Included with the car is a comprehensive history file containing:
- Restoration photographs
- Wood & Pickett invoices
- Mini Spares and specialist parts invoices
- V5C confirming matching VIN & engine numbers
- MOT until 8 January 2027 (no advisories)
- Stormforce 4-layer all-weather car cover
I've owned the car throughout the restoration and carried out much of the mechanical rebuild myself, with specialist machining and balancing entrusted to recognised Mini specialists. It has been regularly maintained and enjoyed since completion rather than stored away.
It's a genuinely reluctant sale—every time I drive it, it still puts a smile on my face—but unfortunately family circumstances mean it's time for someone else to enjoy it.
