Not sure if it's something I've done, but I'm finding the steering a bit tight, especially at full lock after fitting new rack. Should I slacken pinch bolt, u bolts to see if it's an alignment issue? Would a new rack be tighter from new?

Only things to check is that the column and rack are correctly aligned. Then get your tracking done. Yes new parts wear in to a degree.

New TRE's? Did you fit them even turns to start off with for the alignment.
