Hi all.

I am struggling to remove the union bolt to the fuel filter from the tank. The other end has removed ok.

I have soaked in WF40 and Plus Gas and given it some light persuasion with a small hammer.

Is there something I am missing with this nut. Its a 1994/5 spi.

There is a spacer on the spi that is not on the mpi.

I would suggest lubrication is your friend here..

Heat would normally be my go to for this kind of issue but with being a fuel filter,,,,,,be very very careful...

Occasionally I find that these threads are delicate, but........ nipping the connection up tighter can sometimes free them off and then releases.. seams a strange idea but stick with me on this one...

Unless originality is important to you I'd cut out the unions and fit a standard fuel filter with fuel hose at either end. The new filter fits directly into the existing bracket on the subframe.

Cut mine out in 2012. 95 SPI

Put a spanner on the fuel pipe union and one on the adapter union between the fuel pipe and the fuel filter, then 'grip' the two together, I've just replaced mine with the later MPi set-up which is basically the same but does away with the union.
