Is anyone aware if there an inlet manifold available to take twin HS4 carbs to go on a A series head that has a 20 degree angle between the carb and inlet faces? We are building a Kingfisher Sprint and with the standard 30 degree inlet the top of the carbs make contact with the bonnet, thanks.

Can’t answer your question but I will put another to you. Can you get 20deg fittings for the float chambers?

I can get the fittings to correct the float chambers, it is the top of the dashpots making contact with the bonnet that is causing the problem. Have tried tilting the engine back slightly but that causes issues with clearance on the clutch arm. A 20 degree inlet should tilt the carbs back enough to give the clearance needed.

I'm pretty sure the inline engjnes used 20 degree manifolds, now if you can find one for 1.5" carbs I dont know. I'm pretty sure the B series inlines also used 20 degree manifolds but obviously the port spacing is too wide, but if your handy with a TIG, it shouldn't be too much hassle. You could try contacting Maniflow, no doubt they would make you one.
Great project by the way, a rear old beast, a few photos would be nice.

The problem with the inline manifolds is then the carbs hit the bulkhead.

I believe the MG 1100 (ADO 16) transverse engine had a 20 degree inlet manifold for their standard 1-1/4" HS2 SU Carbs (and all the other upmarket ADO 16 variants with twin carbs, like the Riley/Wolseley/VP Princess/Austin-Morris 1300GT, etc).
If the ADO 16 is confirmed at 20 degrees, then a 1-1/4" manifold could be used if the 1.5" carbs were H4 (with some porting), but as they are HS4 the fixing studs are in the wrong place. ie. HS2 mounting studs sit vertical in the flange, while HS4 mounting studs are diagonal.
However there were (are still?) adaptor spacer blocks available in the past that swapped the stud locations to go from an HS2 pattern to an HS4 pattern....

The bulkhead in the Kingfisher is quite well set back so that wont be a problem.

The B series manifold is 20 degrees and I am considering cutting and welding one if I can't find a suitable manifold. I've sent Maniflow an email to see they can offer a solution.

I have a 12G 299 manifold with twin 1-1/4" Su's.
I'm lead to believe they are 20 degrees but don't know for sure. I think it came from and MG of some description.

I think this may be the SU adaptor bracket (MiniSport Australia link below) that has been mentioned in the past by Spider, which could possibly be used the reverse way round to go from HS2 to HS4, or maybe something similar could be custom made?
