Recently for the first time, I have seen Lanolin rust prevention get some publicity in the UK when used on a car restoration TV series and it did look like a good solution for rust prevention to me. While watching a recent episode of 'Dream Car Fixers' (U & Yesterday channel) about a Mercedes W123 restoration (Series 3, Episode 4) they used 'Lanolin' spray to protect the underbody, wheel arches, etc. As lanolin is a natural product from sheep's wool it required no PPE for protection, although a basic simple mask is advised, while gently spraying the underside of the car with a hand pump and as the coating is clear, any paint colour beneath it is still visible. Their professional rust prevention application cost £350, with the Mercedes up on a ramp for easy access but it also looked to be an easy DIY job.

I’ve not used either but have seen Buzzweld given as a cheaper equivalent. I plan to use one of them on the Landy as that has to live outside.

Edit:
A quick google brings up a 90 (!) page thread on a Defender forum (as prone to rust as the Mini) and neither Lanoguard nor Buzzweld are well regarded. Consensus there is that the Dinitrol products are superior.

Have used lanoguard on my caddy. I have also used other cavity waxes on other cars, I have also used old engine oil.

 

would I use lanoguard again sure. You need to for best results as it is not an apply and forget. It does wash off. Like the old engine oil.

 

it has a smell so be prepared if you use it on any internal cavity’s. The smell does go. Or I have got used to it.

 

if you have overspray it can be wiped off easy enough. You can’t put anything over it. It is the last thing.
