Hi
My girlfriend has a L reg mini sprite 1275 with servo assisted brakes. She has been complaining about a scraping/rubbing noise coming from the drivers side front wheel. Then the other day when she was going round a roundabout, the whole car came to a stop with the engine still revving.
I have had the wheel off and spun the hub round and there seems to be too much resistance in places. I have replaced both front discs and pads but it doesnt seem to be any more free.
Is there anything i need to do after changing the discs and pads, bleeding, adjusting, etc? or is it possibly a bigger problem like the master cylinder?
Any help greatly appreciated
Thanks
Chris

Hi Chris,
No, you shouldn't need to bleed the system when you just change the discs and pads as you have not touched the hydraulic system. So were the last pads badly worn (scraping noise)?
Did the wheel lock up - hence stopped OR was the engine just free revving in gear and no movement (drifted to stop)??
I would be having a look at the conditions of the splines between drive flange and cv joint first if the latter case ^
If the former scenario, look at the condition of your calipers as they might be seized...?

the calipers mite be siezed but if there is air in the sytstem that can bring the car to a hault!! if the air gets hot, it expands increasing the pressure on the pistons til 1 unlucky day u can get the brakes to lock hard on till things cool down!! my rears have done it before a couple of times but not seen it on fronts!! make sure they arent siezed!!

The car just came to a dead stop, no drifting. I have had the brake calliper off and it seemed ok. I pressed on the brakes with no pads in and they seemed to move freely.
Also how do i bleed the system properly, is there a set order i should be doing them in?

From your description the issue sounds more outer CV joint or possibly wheel bearing related.
