which bit of the metal are you on about taking out?
you can take the seat pan and rear bins out but will need a roll cage.
as for the back of the seat erm no dont do it.
GrahameC has done it but his is a track car thingy(sorry can't think of the name of the events he does)

I think that you will have to fit an extra support to be able to do that!!

why do you want to do it?

You may have MOT issues if you do that.
The petrol tank = really dangerous flammable stuff .... is in the boot.
If you open the rear up to the boot, you are exposing the cab and yourself (as you sit there), to more danger should there be an issue with fuel !

hm, i will have to have a talk to some people at garages, the main reason i want to do it, is that its something different and if no one is using the back seats then they dont need to be there
And mainly it will be easier to do it now than later

structural itegrity of the car will be seriously compromised.
this is done to the cars that they use for spinning round the aititest tracks.
look for GrahameC's project thread and see what he did. BUT his is a race car and not road legal.
BASICALLY DONT BOTHER.
look at dogmatix thread or MOWOG's or jameswildcooper. they have all removed the rear seat pan and that is it.

Full multipoint cage... the ones that car basically like a web of steel bars inside the car, and then, and only then will it "JUST" have the strenth...
But i don't think its MOT'able then... as you havn't got a "bulkhead" between you and the fuel tank....
WWWWWHHHHYYYYYYY do you want to take the seat out completely?

this much seat removal is easy and doesnt hurt structural rigidity!! hunt around on there for my pictures of mini build!

Theres no point really. After you've removed the back seat you'll have to weld in so much reinforcement that you'll have actually added weight and you won't be able to use the space anyway.
