I know for a fact that when I'm finished restoring My 1973 Mini the very first add on part that I will buy is gonna be an alarm system. The last thing I want is for some ass hole to steal it right after it is finished.

You could also fitt an immobiliser most lads our way have a hidden switch on the electric fuel pump and another on the coil lead so if they do break in (which lets face it is verry easy) , they wont get verry far . :)

i've got a bat and hard mates :) but thats only cause i havent got an electric pump, my girlfriend has had a few strange looks in pubs and clubs though after me making her keep my coil lead in her handbag!!

I've got an alarm, just to make some noise, and a steering bar from www.speeding.co.uk

If you want to keep it real low cost, then you might want to use a hidden killswitch, maybe even 2 like the guy above.

Only if I were you'd I'd completely splice into the ignition wires and kill the ignition with them, as its really easy and cheap, and will keep your car in one place.

Depends where you live really. Fitting a fullsize alarm system may not be worth the trouble, but a killswitch is always a good idea. Just hide it somewhere where its easy to flick if you know its there, but very hard to notice it if it isnt!

u also want to get a switch where the electric goes through to the spark plug.
put a switch there to let electric through and switch the switch and no electric can go through.

You could even get a key switch under the bonnet no theifs gonna look there

If you want a good alarm with an immobiliser you need to get either a clifford, autowatch or a sigma. these are the best larm companys out at the moment. with all of these alarms you can add central lokking on to, plus central looking is not that hard to fit into a mini (you dont need to buy the kits) i work for a place called the soundgallery in buckinhamshire and i fitted loads of alarms onto minis. the alarm i have is a clifford concept 650 best thing about this alarm is you get 2 points of immobilisation so it cuts the starter and the ign plus you have a thing called black jax! this is where you type a small code in on a little 2 button key pad every time you start your car. if someone steels your keys they will drive off but if they havent typed in the code the car will shut off 30 secs later and the alarm will go off and you cant start it again until you type the code in. great if you dont want anyone else borrowing your car as well! plus remote central locking is so much better than :) about with the stupid little key you get in a mini!
