hey all
almost finished my boot liner ...just need some carpet for it.
So now im looking for something else to be getting on with, and the doorcards are looking a bit tatty.
I thought it might be interesting to make my own.
Has anybody done this? What sort of card/wood did you use?
I was thinking about covering it in nylon (i think) ...the same stuff they cover bucket seats in?
Then i dont know how i would fasten it to the door ...maybe with some ordinary screws?
Anybody got any other ideas?
Thanks

Use 4mm MDF, or hardboard. I would use original type clips to hold it in place rather than screws. You only need to make some slotted holes around the edge. Use your originals as a template. This will also tell you where all the holes need to be for the various handles and the boorbin.
Cover the rear of the panel with thick polythene too, glued in place at least around the edges and ALL the holes in the panel. This should stop the panel absorbing moisture from out of the door. I have done this and it works well.

mine were all crumpled and broken but i just patched them with some duck tape and recovered mine in white leather type material i was going to make my own but decided this would be easier
it doesnt matter if the board isnt perfect underneath because you cant see it anyway
looks great and gets rid of the nasty looking original ones

Why not use gaffer tape? It is a standard part on Minis. Used to seal up the doors and rear subframe among other things.
