My mini has a piston gear knob. Looks pretty cool, I believe its been filled with resin and tapped, as Guessworks suggested.

Alternatively you could just fill the piston with resin then prop the gearstick in it. It wont budge once it goes off. If you want a gaiter make sure its on first though

Right, ive done it.
There will be pictures of it fitted all nice n sorta shiney when the sun is out 2moro.

surely if u fill it wit resin it wont come off again? or does it just unscrew after its made a mould of the gearstick?

yer ill try and get a pic for ya, well i havn't tryed to take it off but im sure it would have moulded the thred of the stick, so it should un-screw... ill get a pic as soon as i can.. Matt

yeh i thought it might mould the thread but i didnt know if the epoxy would be hard enough???

whos gonna change gear with that much velocity?surely if u fill it wit resin it wont come off again? or does it just unscrew after its made a mould of the gearstick?

Im gonna drag this post back up after finding it on google! :) ive been told 5/16 UNC is for a manual gear lever? So do the auto and manual have the same thread??
