Hi

Ive currently got MED building me a 1380 and im having the crank x-drilled, wedged, bladed, and ni-temp'd. Ive set myself a budget that i can not exceed (WIFE) and am not sure if i should leave the crank as above and get the DCR system http://www.med-engin...mp;vlang_id=237
or have the crank back drilled and go without the DCR.

Please could someone tell me what is going to be the better of the two to go with.

The work you're already having done will be fine. Some 1380's even use std cranks......
and whilst the super duper air intake is proven and certainly works.... you could do the vizard treatment on your current carb and that will be sufficient with a good airfilter too.

Thanks Retro.

What is the Vizard treatment? I have a brand new weber at the mo and has been jetted and set up on Slarks RR. It is mounted to a six inch manifold that has been matched to the ports on the head. I know i will need to get it set up again after the engine is fitted and bedded in.

all i would do with any std stroke engine is have the crank fully balanced and make sure the rods and the crank weights will balance themselves out at the rpm i intend to use it at!!

ooh and not forgetting a complete set of arp bolts and imho the only main strap worth going for is the 4 bolt jobby!! dont see how removing metal and bolting another bit over the top can increase stength significantly enough!!

Its to do with the stress points caused by right angles on the cap. A correctly machined and fitted 2 bolt CMS will be much stronger than standard.

stil prefer either std or 4 bolt!! no in betweenies!!
