I am finally putting my 1275 back together but my haynes does not cover A+.

What's the proper setting for the simplex tensioner?
Do I just rest it against the chain or actually put a preload on it so as the chain stretches it keeps tension?

Thanks.

i swear i've read you dont load it up!!i think its more to take lash out of the chain rather than keep it taught!!

To quote the manual

"Fit tensioner and tension the chain by applying firm pressure on the tensioner. Fit bolts securing tensioner to engine and tighten to 22nm (16lbft real money)"

The tensioner is a sprung device, if left unsprung it'll rattle more than the chain. Personally I'd loose it and fit a duplex but that's a whole other story.

Thanks,
You know how that whole hindsight thing works!!
I was just reading the Vizard again last night looking for an answer and it talked about just replacing the simplex with the duplex on the A+ with no other mods or parts needed.
IIRC it also said you could use the tensioner but that the duplex are less likely to stretch.
