some will remember me posting a wlile ago about it being possible to change a cam on a 1275 without having to dismantle the engine!! well i have searched high and low and i know i'd seen it somewhere before and here it is :gimme:

for those of you with a vizzard book, 3rd edition it gives an example of a way it can be done on page 304!!!

Quick question, what happens if the cam followers fall down when the cam is removed? :gimme:

^^ then you have to take the engine apart ! Well at least split the engine and box anyway :gimme:

personally i think is a bodge and false economy to change a cam without changing the followers also, and to do so just it seems to prove a point is asking for trouble imho

people worry too much!! you can re-use copper head gaskets, not change followers, re-use other gaskets, loads of stuff!! some would call i bodgery!! its more like good economy to be honest tho!! if it aint broke why replace it!!

hate to say i told you so!! vizard uses a belt drive to speed things up even more but its quite easily possible with a chain!! :crazy: :gimme: B)

I took my tappets out. Thro the tappet chest cover, or do larger engines not have these?

And how exactly will you inspect the followers to see if they are broken while they are still stuck up inside the engine? I replace followers with cams, they aren't exactly expensive.
