Right, is this problem to do with my clutch by any chance?
The car starts, runs and drives pretty good, at any time of the day - morning, noon and night.
On the way to work though, I have to use the motorway for about 10 minutes. Everything is perfect when I'm on the motorway, but as soon as I pull off and sit in traffic, my revs die whenever I try and pull off. This does not happen before I go on the motorway, only after.
I also get this problem on the way home when in traffic after being on the motorway. I have to rev the car up to about 3k just to stop it stalling as I let go of the clutch...
Clutch on it's way out then? Hard job to do, or is it time to visit the garage?

sounds more like overly rich idle fuel mixture!! once its very warm if its too rich it will coke up the plugs and try to stall!! has it been setup on the rollers?

Nope... Does it cost much to do?
I was well under the impression that it was the clutch. I know for a fact that I 'ride the clutch' and thought this might be the outcome of that!

Yeah, it will sit happily at 1500rpm... Until I put it in gear and lift the clutch... Then it tries to die!

hmm, sounds like a setup issue to me, retarded timing or overfuelling!! a rolling road setup is usually around the £60 per hour figure and usuallt 1.5 - 2 hours!! it seems a lot but 9 times out of 10 its well worth it.

Take your hand brake off?
Nah seriously, it sounds like a mixture problem. Phone around your local garrages for a rolling road tune, it will be about 60 pounds upwards. Mine has a similar problem when cold, but when it warms up shes fine.

I'm going to hazard a guess that you have fitted a stage one kit and not plummed in the heated inlet manifold

No stage one kit!
Rolling road over the next month then. Picked up a runaround car today, so I can give the mini a rest and fix it all up!

I've Had This Problem With Mine, It's Usualy When You Have Too Great An Air To Fuel Ratio.
Also, Idling At 1000 - 1500 Rpm Is Way Too High. My Car Does 650Rpm Absolutly Quiet.
