is this not the whole thing about when the starter motor gets hot it expands and rubs against the casing of the satrter motor, and so wen u turn the engine off and then try and start it again it wont as its jammed and u ahve to leave it too cool down or hit it with a hammer??
some one clever will either back me up and explain it well, or *yellow human water* all over my bonfire lol

hey dave, you shuda asked, i saw the old think parkes there the other day and wondered if it was sumit 2 do with u! its either guna be the engine earth (from block to brake cylinder plate) or the battery earth i believe its under the seat in a clubby.
remove them both from the car, clean them up to bare metal then clean they're mounting places to bare metal and refit them and smear vaseline on top of them to seal them. also move the engine earth so it goes from the block to the inner wing.
if u stil have a problem after that pm me and i'll see what i can do as im off work all next week.

i had a similar problem and it may be worth checking the battery positive lead for cuts, ect if the more obvious things dont show anything
