I just ordered an AAA needle for my 1275 engine running an HIF38 carb, alloy inlet and cone filter and tubular manifold. It was originally running an AEM, and then I used a AAU needle which was running a little lean at the top end. Without getting it rolling roaded is this a good guess at the correct needle? I took an intellegent guess using what was available on minispares and minispeed's websites. I was tempted to go for the BBZ needle used in stage one kits on the HIF44 carb, but figured the AAA was better suited to my spec. Have I ordered the correct one?

For a Hif38 always get a needle starting with A.
I think AAA is what the standard stage 1 Kit from minisopres uses so yes it is a good start. you will need to get a rolling road done though to make sure the car is setuop correctly.
MLMotorsport is a very good place to go.

k, cheers that's what I figured so hopefully it's ok temporarily. Is ML motorsport in knockholt? How much is the going rate for a typical rolling road set up session?

miniboo's correct, it was what was on the car when I got it, already on an metro inlet manifold and a cheap looking tubular manifold, going to fit an lcb and twin box rc40 after xmas, ditch the cat and hopefully get a bit more power. The setup from ML motorsport sounds like money well spent, I might drop in there when I have some funds saved.

Yeh I would do, but I'm trying to keep expenses as low as possible so that I can start building a new engine for the sprite. I'm hoping to have it ready by summer, so just want to get it running sweet with what it's got at the moment.

It's worth a thought, I might get back to you on that one.
