its best you do, they may not charge you on alot of of interior items but if you knocked someone over they would use your interior mods as an 'excuse' to make you cough money up saying that you were a boy racer etc

Depends on who your insurer is. Some really won't let you change anything on the car for non original or equivalent parts. Even a...

bloody gear knob??

Ask them how they feel about interior mods, and if they say no then change companies. They might not charge you anything for the changes you make, just so long as they know about it. It's all about covering your own back in case something does happen.
A center console and a steering wheel would be different things. The console is an accessory so they would probably just count it as luggage (unless their assessor thinks it will interfere with the clutch or something), whereas the steering wheel is a replacement and safety critical too. So they might not like it.

its also a good idea to find out how much insurance is going to be before you do any mods, especally when you are rebuilding your mini.

as you all know mine is now finished and the only changes i made, were to teh exhaust (rc40) airfilter (K&N) and put some alloys on it, nothing to increase the power to much, just make it more reliable and handle better.

went to get some quotes from insurance companies, i thought they had been taken over by willy turpin, £500 bu*k me i thought so lots of phoning around and i finally found one under £200, but they need photo's of all my mods.

most insurance companies wouldn't insure the car, and i'm anchient,

:wales:

so before you decide to change something check with your insurance company to see if its going to be worth it
