Alrite, I'm going to be putting a ciggi lighter in the mini tomorow, but I have'nt got a clue where to take my live feed from, I've heard of people using the stereo permanent and non permanent live feeds, but I have also heard of people not reccomending this. I did a search but most of the results where for pre spi/mpi minis, which had the simpler fuse box.
Anybody put a ciggi lighter into a mpi, if so where did you take your live feed from? If from the fuse box how did you go about it?
Cheers
Tom

run a wire from the 3rd fuse down through the bulkhead.
add an in line fuse and put a small rated fuse in it ive got a 5amp in Sunshines and i will have the same in mine when i get round to it,( im just being to lazy to do it).
you can run a wire from the side lights, by lowering the heater, to get to it. if you have one which lights up.

It's an MPI Cowboy!
If you only want it on with the ignition and the car doesn't have the genuine optional sunroof fitted then I'd use B7, the sunroof feed. If you want on permanantly then I think the AUX fuse in B4 is designed for this, but check you manual for what it's actually doing at the moment as it's not clear from the documants I have here. The sunroof circuit is designed for 15 amps but the aux is only for 10. Don't increase the rating of any fuse when adding accessories. It's easy to add to the fuse box properly, Vehicle Wiring Products sell the terminals for it and all you have to do is slide out the locking bars, poke the terminal into the hole and slide the bar back in.

Save the time and hassle, go down your local 'Zippo' supplier instead, then you can have it out of the car too
