if i cover the backbox end with my shoe, should it stall?
my girlfriends mini has just developed a grumbling noise on acceleration and it doesnt stall when i cover the backbox. i was thinking maybe the cold weather has cracked the manifold. her exhaust has been fitted with the system hard bolted to the subframe by the previous owner (bodge) and the engine steady isnt that good either. recipe for disaster.
what do u guys think?
blowing exhaust?

errr don't quote me but yes i think it should stall. take a look under the car for cracks, otherwise it could be a leak at the manifold end or between one of the joins.
hard bolted as in no rubbers? lol if no rubber mounts then yeh... your exhaust is probably fubared
mine cracked at the manifold, buy her a stage one kit, she'll love it

If it was cracked at the manifold you would know as there would be lots of exhaust from the engine bay. Mine was blowing at the head facing and it was very visable. The exhaust manifold should be ridigly attached by means of a bracket to the diff housing, not to the subframe, sinse the engine moves independantly of the subframe. This will likely cause problems but what you are describing could well be an ignition or fuel problem.

not always, when mine cracked at the manifold it wasnt noticable other than the noise
and my lcb leaks at the head slightly now, but theres no noticable smoke, it chokes you though
