hey. my car is getting resprayed soon and i'm considering choices of paint. I like the look of this rustoleum stuff from avenue coatings that retro_10's used to roller paint his car. I want to spray the car as i have a compressor and i think it would be easier than rolling it on. I'm just wondering, how easy is rustoleum to spray?
And is spraying something that i could do without any previous experience?
easy to spray paint rustoleum?

What are your reasons for wanting rustoleum?... In my opinion if you have a gun, use it with some 2k or acrylic or something... probably cost about the same since you already have the gear.
I can tell you that you get a lot of waste from spraying rustoleum and it's very messy. But if you search the VW site you'll see a purple campervan getting the treatment.... I think if you google something like 'VZI rustoleum' you'll find the VW site.

Basically, you'll get lots of waste.... but if you get the gun set up nicely, it should spray quite well... you'll basically be doing two coats of it with a good hard wet sand inbetween to kill off the slight orange peel you will get. then you'll have to make sure it's being sprayed somwhere with a good warm ambient tempretaure... definatly not below 5c.
It will take some time to harden fully... I personally wouldn't spray unless i had heaters to cure the paint as laying one thick layer over another 'not fully hardened' one, will cause the 1st layer to Never cure and harden, so you will have soft paint that looks balls.
This is why we roller it on. Because super thin layers not only set rock solid, but harden much quicker, they also sit more level and there is No waste paint.
