I was bored over christmas, and decided to strip down an engine I aquired.

It is a 1300 GT i think, 11 stud head and block stage 3 head with pretty big valves etc. but fitted with CV pot type gearbox.
Trying not to waffle, I was offered a load of bits, and when i went to look, realised they were all from my mates old car I last saw 15 years ago.
The motor was V quick then, so I paid the guy and loaded my dads van.

Anyway I took it apart and it has 3 pistons stamped with ID.13 and +20 --------------(1293 I think) But the piston in no 4 bore is odd and has TRW175.9799 and 000.04 on it

Anybody know what they are? they are slightly dished and look standard. The bores all measure almost 71mm and there is no bore wear and i can still see honing marks.

Also I cant get flywheel off, puller+big bar+impact socket+hammer(carefully) it is a two piece lightened one. Can I use Heat? :'(

Thanks for help

You will be able to find a similar piston/pistons new @ http://www.minispare...spx?ccid=100107

get the bore sizes checked and buy a new set of pistons if you are that worried but if it all runs ok i wouldnt worry. i will just add tho that i have heard of some engine companies rebuilding an engine and only reboring 1 bore because that was the only one worn!!

Great Ta

I didnt even think of doing a Google search for the numbers :D . maybe thats why the wife is a computer engineer not me.!

I will get the rest of it apart and see if the pistons are simmilar enough, the bores seem the same so should be ok.

I will have another go at the flywheel after tea,

I am looking at getting the head unleaded converted with new hardened seats. and then may put that motor in while I rebuild the ex SPI.
