hi. iv just fitted a mg metro engine and gearbox into my mini city and every time i change down from 3rd to second then second to first the gears crunch, it does not crunch in any other gears and it also doesnt crunch when going up any of the gears the only way you can stop the 1st and second gear from crunching is to stop the car completely and also to hold your foot and the clutch for ages before u change down. anyone got any ideas what it could be

badly adjusted clutch possibly or a clutch cylinder with air in it or it could be a gearbox with worn synchros in it. have u ever tried double de-cluching?? this will help all mini owners avoid the ill-fated CRUNCH upon upshifts!
