Hazard Lights - not working.

Well Jerri is still up to her tricks. At least she is getting my brain working.
I have done a search and read what I could find for Hazard Lights.
I have checked the
Switch
Fuse Box
In line fuse
Replaced the flasher unit (on the box it says "12V Flasheer Unit 21Wx2 +5w Hazard) is this o.k?
Now with the engine running, put on the indicator, hit the rocker switch for the hazards and the indicators stop working.
So it seems as if the switch is o.k.
I have not checked the wiring as I don't have a amp/volt meter.
Apart from the wiring do you have any other suggestions?

MOT has to be done for the end of Jan., so thought that it would be a good idea to start looking at this sort of thing.
Will check all the earths now.
Let me know how you sort yours

Take the plug off the back of the switch and use a jumper wire to connect together the four pins arranged as a group at one end of the block. That is what the switch is supposed to do and it should make your hazards work. It doing this makes them work then it must be the switch.
What age is a Neon? I can't remember but the indicator and hazards circuit has changed a couple of times over the years so it would be good to know. Why do people never put how old their car is? Especially for electrical questions! I need to know if you have one flasher unit or two as if you have two then that sounds like the wrong flasher unit for hazards but you may have replaced the wrong one anyway.

Yes I have two flashers, one on the bulk head and I have not fiddled with the one for the indicators as they are working.
Will find out if Halfords are open tomorrow and see if they have one, as I have tried all the shops in March......
Wish me luck. Will let you know what luck I have tomrrow.
Lets hope that Jerri (pandora) has a change of heat in 2007.

Went to halfords and got a new flasher unit 4 x 21.... it is square not can shaped. Put it on, no luck. Bought a volt/amp meter, and am getting about 4.5 at the terminals for the flasher unit.
Also have tried the wire jumper, no luck. Not able to get a switch today, so will have to order one tomorrow.
Going to have a go at the radio now as this has not been working either. Going to check the earths.
Will let you know what happens when I get a new switch.

If there's only 4.5 volts getting to the flasher then that needs attention. Try cleaning the terminals in the fuse holder, the hazards are fed by an inline fuse behind the air cleaner. It is quite possible that the fuse holder is decaying.

and me om my 93 open classic except indictors or hazards dot work goin to change the yellow relay by the wiper motor but seems that there are 2 so may do both.I've got the exact same problem, indicators work but as soon as you flick the hazard lights they stop. It's only recently this has happened. I've got a '91 city.
