right well i got a lil problem (i think)

basically my car last summer ran beautifully. when it started getting cold it kinda went down hill. all i have done to the car is change the manifold and exhaust to a play mini 2" jobbie, replace the cone filter with a proper k&n as the old one was leaking and fitted a 2 core rad.

just before i had a lot of electical problems and it died and i couldn't get the thing to start. i'm kinda hoping this is all fixed now and the electrical side done and dusted. however before i proceed with a RR to get it set up as it is not running well at all and i want to run by you pros how it drives at the moment as i dont want crawl it to the RR to find out that there is a bigger problem.

so basically my battery does charge, however the belt keeps slipping so thats one problem the battery only lasts about 4 days.....that i know about. (got a big earth on the head to the chassis, hopnig its working)

when the car starts it sounds like it is missfiring. the induction roar is really loud if i put my foot down and when i do it starts to well pop from the front it sounds like. it does use a fair bit of fuel and idles at about 1500 rpm and if i wear to lower it it will probably stall.

so what you think. i hope it is just an RR..... :w00t:

Thanks

T

Its probably just down to needing a tune to get the fuelling right the cold weather has just highlighted the issue, it wouldnt hurt to give it a service if it hasnt been done recently as well.

What sort of carb are you running ? The later HIF types have a little strip in them to adjust the jet based on the fuel temperature that the HS series dont posess. If you keep the car outside overnight the fuel will be freezing cold this time of year.

Did you link up the water heater to the inlet manifold ? Not doing this can cause issues as well in the cold.

Link up the pipe as well, should help with the fuel consumption and will prevent carb icing from occuring :w00t:

The last problem sounds like a miss-fire, take out the plugs and see if one it really mucky, if they are ok, start the car and remove one ht lead at a time and see what ones change the engine note, and which one doesn't. The one that doesn't look into it more, might need new plug, to clean out your dizzy, or something worse.

Good luck.

well the plugs and leads are only a few months old, i did check the plugs and the one near the rad was near perfect if a bit rich, however the weird thing is the one the other sid ewas like leanign off abit. i kinda stumbled there :w00t:
