on the subject of seats how much would it cost to retrim some seats out of another car in leather to make them appear better?

Go and get some quotes, it's the only way, worek varies and so does price along with it.
any seats will fit as long as they're not too wide really, Height is generally not tooooo much of a prob but it'd pay to check,
basically you dont maodify the seat, you'd need to make a sort of frame to either solid mount them or one to incorporate the locking mechanism originally used.
