The fixings at the front either side of the numberplate are no different to the ones you probably have on your mini now - includong the rubber mounts.

Bloody front skirt on mine mate. Ive not got any :- lol

SOunds straight forward enough. I reckon that the metal front is going to be easier than putting a fibreglass one on, as its already in line with the car if that makes sence? So in theory, i shouldnt have to much problem with gaps etc like some people have with the fibreglass ones :withstupid: BONUS!lol

and because its obviously stronger than fibreglass you dont get a lot of movement. If you look at my arches in the pics you will see they are not cut like they normally are by the A panel where the front comes off. My arches are screwed on as normal up to where the seem should be, the rest of the arch sits nicely down by the a panel and along the sill, when i take the front off the arch pulls away from the A panel and is left attached to the front complete :withstupid:

Good job im doing this lads. Started flatting the paint back today so i can see where the lines were so i could start chopping.
Only to find that the car has not been deseamed properly - its just been filled with fibreglass and filler to bridge the gap >:(

Good job i checked eh, as otherwise it wouldav been to late after me paint job :'(

WOW - them pics are wicked. Thanks for taking the time too do that.

Cheers all you guys for all your help. We had a look at it today and thought "sod it- lets go fot it" lol so definately going for the metal flip front too. Watch this space :(

no problem, i sort of cheated ;) someone else on here asked me about doing this a few months ago and i took the pictures then and still had them on the computer. I just need to sort out the headlight wiring on mine, whoever did the front before i bought it hasnt put removeable plugs on it so i cant completely remove it at the moment. Does anyobe know where to buy some waterproof multiplugs? (sorry to hijack but you will need them too)

Seen a mini with a trailer plug going into the bulkhead. there are only seven wires on them plugs so he must of paired the side lights and head lights

my removable front just had a couple of plugs from a metro, 7 wires in total i think, and connected just below the starter solenoid on the drivers side brace bar. never had any probs with water ingress, and they were nice and neat and small, and free from a scrapyard!

with reference to mounting the front, the subframe was solid mounted to the bulkhead and floor, and the brace bars bolted to the front of the subframe, next to the front panel subframe mount. the front was held on with 8 nuts and bolts, 2 as per the usual front panel subframe mount, 1 hidden under each wheel arch, and bolted through the extended a-panel, this way there was no dzus fastners/rubber straps etc on show, and 2 small nuts and bolts each side through what was remaining of the wing rails at the top of the inner wing. the wheel arches weren't cut at all, so had to be removed completely before the front could be removed. i can email some pics if required, should have some somewhere from when i owned the car.
