Hi,
I joint this forum not too long ago. I just bought (a month ago) a 1994 mini 1.3i convertible. 1st problem was the slave cylinder leak. Next is the water leak from the water pump. I am thinking of replacing whatever parts that might give way, so that I don't have to spend every weekend repairing the car, or at least minimise my time spend on repairing the mini. I have dismantle the radiator, water pump, thermostart housing (not exactly sure the terminology), next is the steering rack.......
I do need all your help on what are the things I need to look out for or need changing.
Thanks for your help.
Cheers.

If the steering rack is ok, then I would leave asis, as it's not one of the easiest items to change....

The simplest way of keeping a mini on the road is regular servicing, this includes greasing the nipples on the suspension as well as a lube service.

Arbitarily renewing items can cause premature wear on other components, but it's a wise move to check other mechanical items in the vecinity of any parts replaced, EG if you're replacing brake pads, check the flexible hoses, wheel bearings, ball joints, tie rods etc while you have the wheel off

Thank you.
The steering rack bush is gone and make loud metal to metal knocking sound. Today I try and found out it is not easy to remove as you have stated. However I need to remove it. I have limited time to work on this mini as I am working. Any help will be appreciated for removing this steering rack.
