Finally got a pair of angel eyes for Millie yesterday.
I tried fitting them with a friend (thanks tomf) but we couldn't get them to work.
came with no bulbs, so, local bloke suggested a set of bulbs which I had a pair of.
got them wired up, sides worked fine, but no dipped or main.
what do I have to do to get those to work?
Regards
Tom

plug your old light in, if that works then your bulbs dont.

Headllights are not fused !
You may have disturbed the bunch of bullet connectors under the slam panel which supply live and earth to the headlights and are prone for getting dirty and not working !

I had to cut the wires on mine to fit the new halogen bulbs, as the bulbs on it were the old sealed beams. Could be you've got the wiring mixed up? Or the new bulbs could be faulty? Try with new H4 halogen bulbs to see if that cures it.

???
Sealed beams and H4s use the same connector.
You may find that you end up replacing the master light switch soon having fitted H4 lamps to the car. It's always a good idea to get the headlamps running on relays as the lightswitch is barely up to running the standard system (in fact it isn't really) and even a slight upgrade can melt the thing. The rocker switches in Minis are rubbish.
Oh and did you touch the glass of the H4 bulbs when you were fitting them? That can stop them working (although it generally makes them explode rather than just fail). Could just be bad bulbs.
Do you have metal or plastic headlamp buckets? If you have metal ones the new lamps (which are longer) could be shorting on the casing which would stop them working. Do they work if they are plugged in but dangling out of the car?

There isn't anything wrong with the bulbs - they dont appear to be blown. they were H$ super brilliance bulbs.
perhaps buying some bog standard bulbs might make them work?
what else could we try?

You have ruled out pretty much everything else so it looks like there is a fault with the units rather than anything else.
Are you sure the bulbs you have work ?
Those angel eyes look quite 'cheap' and its possible that there is an internal short that has been present since manufacture.

So the bulbs dont work at all then ? That means you need new bulbs !
