Front nearside wheel suddenly locks up, wheel is ripped out of my hand as I suddenly find myself going sideways down the dual carriageway at a speed that you shouldnt be going sideways at!! my brother s**ts himself as a valiantly struggle to keep things under control with my basic driving experience, (I'd only ever used opposite lock on gran turismo!!) to this day I still dont know how we didnt roll/land in a ditch/plough into the armco!!
AA got the car home and we stripped the offending bearing the following day, it had destroyed itself and fell out as a pile of iron filings!!
Needles to say I am now meticulous about wheel bearings, keep jacking the car up all the time and checking for play etc. It is scary how we trust our lives to all these nuts and bolts everyday, anyone who has rebuilt a front subrame will know what im talking about! (so its just this nut on the tie rod that stops my suspension from collapsing them, that nice to know when ive got a 1399 that can do 120mph!!!)

When i had my first mini, a 1987 Poo Brown Mayfair (allegedly cherry red i seem to recall), i was home from Uni for the weekend in the winter. It was early one morning and my brother needed to borrow my car for something or other, he set off and about 5 mins later i get a call..
"Er, sorry bruv, i've had an accident"
Nice!! To be fair it was icy, he got just up the road from us to a small roundabout, turned the wheel but the car just went straight ahead front NS wheel first into the kerb. It buckled the wheel and bent various 'hub-related' components so the car wasnt moving of its own accord! So, i had to leave my then new girlfriend in bed >

We got a variety of looks pushing her home; bemused, amused, impressed and disgusted, but we got there!
That was a mini adventure, not too many roller booting adventures after that though, except in Cornwall, as the wheels were rather square!

Must see if we ever had a photo of that..hmm, good times!

awkward lol.Mine was when I broke down a few months back ..
Gave my two good friends a lift home.. It was a first for one of them and she was well looking forward to it ..
Got about 2 miles from college and the car jutters, then goes slightly over 10mph .. Then, it starts raining .. So, I manage to pull into a pub carpark..
Engines off, heaters on, but struggling to keep up with the now torrential rain.. Car naturally begins to steam up..
I'm sat in my mini with 2 girls and it's beginning to steam up, rapidly.. Then, they decide to draw all over my windows with hand prints, Titanic style..
Next minute, people from the pub start to just wander past, then turn around and head back to the pub .. Funny thing was, I was at the right far end of the car park, near an electric box .. There was nowhere to go, so they didn't half stand out when they walked by
Then, a lady got on a bicycle, peddled up to the car, and circled it twice, then headed back to the pub ..
Interesting to say the least
