Hi all,

I've just brought an engine, I was told it was a 998 bored out to 1048 but the engine number is BHM1042. Would I be right in thinking it is a 1070cc "S" engine?

Thanks,

doesnt sound like a normal engine number to me.

it might just be one that the engineer put on?

It's not listed in the FAQ's list ( http://www.theminifo...showtopic=14246 )

According to this site http://members.home....ni/goldseal.htm it's a 1070cc

BHM1042
New and goldseal 1074 to 1980. 1100cc. Clubman & special. 8G133
Goldseal, pre-closed circuit breather 1070cc "S"

Just looking for confirmation really.

There isn't one fitted but the hole is there for one.

teh 8g133 refers to the 1071 s engine.

that site is 2 columns next to each other.

yours is a goldseal 1100 engine by the looks of it

i also think the 1074 bit is a typo and should say 1974 as in the year

That list of engine numbers you have used to look up your engine is famous for being full of typos and basically just badly hand copied out of the front of the Mini Spares parts catalogue. It is reproduced on the web a few times in different places but sadly a list of numbers that is full of mistakes is essentially useless as unless you know what you are looking at it's hard to find mistakes in a series of numbers.

Miniboo is spot on.

Just for refference, now that the numbers have been sorted. Cooper S blocks do not have any hole for the mechanical fuel pump
