Hi, I can`t seem to find an answer to this through searching. We`ve just fitted a minispares stage 1 kit to our 998 and now we can`t get the revs below about 1600 and we have really bad run on when we switch the engine of. I have put the AAC needle back in and that doesn`t make any difference, have checked the timing and thats fine. Does anyone have any ideas on what it could be ?????
Thanx

you tried turning the idle adjustment?

turn it down, see what happens, if that done't help then check cables are caught up and the choke is fully home.

oh, also check the piston isn't sticking. Might got some grit in there messing it up. Also try the fuel air mix adjuster. Mark one side and turn it to the left/anti-clock wise (looking from the top). See what happens. Keep a count of how many turns you do as you can always turn it back the same number then.

the cable mite be too tight holding the throttle open, it needs a little slack. commom occurance when fitting a stage 1 kit, the run on will be worstened because of the high revs. all minis not setup properly can do it, fancy a rolling road setup??

i think i`m going to have to have it rolling roaded but don`t know anywhere in Essex thats good with Minis !!!!!
The cables definately not tight, i think there might be an air leak somewhere, off to check now !!!!!! ;D :- :w00t:

Best place around the South East is ML Motorsport in Knockholt (near Brands Hatch).

Hi all, Took the carb and inlet manifold of today, used a bit of gasket sealant on all the joins and when i put it back together the revs had dropped to 1100, so i guess we had some leaks. Took it for a drive and it was running ok except for a flat spot at about 2000 revs. Advanced the timing a couple of degrees and richened the mixture slighty and the flat spots gone !!! Its running lovely now but i will still have it rolling roaded when i get the chance, it`d be nice to see how much better they can get it !!!!!!! :D :bah:

i have heard good things about ml motorsport but i havent used them myself. to save going that far, there are 2 in wickford/billericay, very close to the A127. both excellent places to get a rolling road.

personally id use nitrous solutions now but i have used mowatts in the past, my only reason for changing is my engine builder (atspeed racing) uses nitrous for their cars, motto being if u cant beat them, copy them. havent got their number to hand but i have asked a man that built my engine to post it later on.

jon mowatt has been around for years, he's only part time at his place now but the guys running the place full time have been there for years and really know teir stuff. mowatt is a friend of david vizzard (mini tuning god) and his garage is listed in the back of the vizzard bible for tuning minis. 01268 726 225

both are priced at around £60 per hour from memory!!

there is a rolling road in colchester. only heard bad things about it as far as minis go tho!!

wont say dont go to ml motorsport but these 2 are closer!

We've got personal experience of ML. What AC doesn't know about the A series, isn't worth knowing. Gray had his car set up over 2 years ago and it's not needed touching since. Well worth the money.
