I have a ambitious plan to get myself a nice set of split rims some day (before summer that is) and I really like the look of 10x7" rims. BUT will any tire fit over them nicely? I've seen Yoko A032Rs fitted on them if I remember right, but most people have been using 10x6" on a road Mini.

As a next question to this is that how often you have to change A032Rs compared to e.g A008s? I know those are made from soft rubber and wear down faster than normal tire but how many thousand kilometers one can drive with A032Rs before you have change 'em? There's no sense for me to change tires every summer, even those have great grip and would look extremely cool on Mini...

A032R's wear incredibly fast. Some pople went through a set just driving to the ring and back (1500miles/ 2400km).

Hmmm, I don't know. I've had a set on for a year now, admittedly the car hasn't done amazing milage, but its done a trip to Newquay and back (700 odd miles), kent and back (about 400 miles), the 'Ring and back (about 1500 miles I'd say), then quite a lot of local driving, maybe another 500 miles worth. So thats 3100 miles / 4960 km. My fronts are about 3/4 worn, rears about 1/4 worn - so they're not THAT bad.....but still not great :D

your first issue is over stretching the tyre, if you do go for a 10x7, then I would ONLY put Yoko's on them, I've used pretty much all the mainstream tyres on 10's, and have 32r's at the moment and they are by far the best performing 10" tyre I've used, in wet and dry.. however, the down side is the wear, rear's hardly get touched, but fronts get hammered, especially if you have neg camber or toe out, and push it round corners.

eg, mine have done < 1k miles and the fronts are almost pretty much slick, however I suspect 1/2 of that tread was removed at the showdown.

I am hoping to go for the Force 7 x 10's and sorta wanted to ask the same question! So thanks :D

I was leaning towards the Yoko's anyway, but are the 032R's directional? If so, spare wheel may be a bugger!

So my best choice would be 10x6" with A008s then? Or do those fit over 10x7"? :D

camac's? did someone say camacs? these are the worst tyres i have ever driven on by a long long way and should be banned. if it even thinks about raining...two countries away the grip starts to go lol :D :bah:

*Scream* DON'T go the Dunlop route! I've had D1s on my mini, with all the suspension set up by Bill Richards Racing and they are incredibly scary! They aren't too bad in the dry, but in the wet they just let go without warning!

Its got to be the 32R's allday everyday. The 008's are rubbish I think. Not bad in the dry but in the wet they are cronic. I have to admit though, I did have a set a faulkens once and they performed rather well, especially in the rain. No heart stopping moments but plenty of warning before they let go.
