Right, I'm getting fed up with Daisy misfiring intermittently.

On my trip to wales yesterday, she behaved really badly up the A34 where there was rain, any time we came to a hill she started misfiring like a good un. Worth noting that it was raining here.

I pulled over at Chievely and topped up the dashpot oil which was a little low and did my best (with a can of WD40 ) to dry around the dizzy etc.

This seemed to help as she behaved a lot better up the M4 but it was also sunny and the roads where dry.

Then on the way back, as soon as we got on the A34 again (still wet) she started playing silly buggers when going up hills.

I have a bodged anti water device (plastic bag !) in front of the dizzy.

What I really want to know is whether one of those little electronic ignition modules that replaces the points and condensor will help stop this as it really gets on my proverbials !

Just to note, the coil condensor cap arm leads plugs & points are all relatively new and she only does this occasionally in the wet and when going up hill ! She has also been RR'd recently so the fuelling is accurate.

yes it will solve it.... if the points are the problem... does sound moisture related tho jim lad

Thanks Retro, guess I was after someone to confirm my suspicions before I spent the £75 on the little thingy !

Is a bit C**p though, did they design minis only to be driven when its dry ? Bit of rain and they fall to bits

I had some thing similar but a lot worse the other day and found the plastic fork on the points was not fitted around the pin in the dizzy so fitted new points and condenser but the new condenser was faulty so the misfire got worse re fitted the old one and all was o.k. (With the faulty condenser a bigger gap in the points made it run better)

But yes electronic can only make things better but HT leads and cap will still need to be kept dry

yeah it can only make things better... Iw as lucky and got my lumention set for £40. Minisprt have them, in a sale now by the way according to their leaflet i got this morning.,..

a valid point about the leads too, some Nice standard replacemtn leads and plugs are the bes ti have ever run. no need for super duper ones, but now i'm telling you to suck eggs
