bmw head conversion

Is it the k100 head that is required and are there many different types?

I think k100 is the 8 vakve head and the K110 is the 16 Valve head.

Specialist compinenst do a kit aswell as morspeed i think. specialist components also do a build book for 19.99 which might be a good read

If I might thread jack a little. Does the bike head fit on smaller engines. I mean could it be bolted to a 998 and work fine or must much fettling be done?

Lets clear one thing up. The Head does not 'fit'. You have to make it fit. 998 blocks are no good. 850 blocks do-able, 1275 blocks not so much of a problem.

wait. why is a 998 not do-able and and 850 is? I saw the 850 mini done (the rust looking one in the USA). so whats the difference?

Bore size and centers wont allow enough off set boring to get the cylinders in the right place.
