rite, today i let the car warm up again and turned on the heater ans it still wasnt hot so i pulled in at a petrol station and had a fiddle, i pulled the valve rite out on the heater valve on the engine and that seemd to make a nice difference so, ill try and stop some of the air leaks that im getting from inside the car, one being the pipe in the the drivers footwell, i dont have one going to the heater from the the outside, so ill see how i get on.. thanks everyone ill try and get a new valve aswell soon...

Had a similar problem when i first got mine. Heater would run hot for abouts 10 secs then go cold. Also the temp gauge only read just over 'cold'. A new 88 thermostat sorted it.
