Well don't know if it's as cold over there as it is here? but -5 last night with -7 tonight!! anyway, got up this morning to go to work, half an hour defrosting things then another half trying to start my 4yr old renault master!! wouldn't have any of it ;) so but big blanket over engine and battery on charge.. went over to my mini, passenger door had been in the sun for an hour so opened without defrosting, key in ignition, choke out, turn key..................... bruuuuummm, started on the button!?

a good tip to starting a diesel in the cold is pour a kettle of hot water over the air intake and warm it up a bit :D

good trick about starting diesels unless u have a 5th injector for cold starts is to put a dry tisue into the inlet and set it on fire :D then crank....i havent tryed it but the crazy hungarian teacher from college said it works well...but then again he cut himself abotu once a month...set himself on fire a few times singed his eye brow etc hes a tad crazy!

All good this morning, plugged the fan heater in from the garage and left that blowing straight on the engine while i had cup of tea like!! worked like a treat.. was -7 here at 6am here? thought i'd still try the mini, took a bit longer to get in but still first time..
As for the hungarian teacher, i would say he stikes up an odd image but if you'ld spoken to some of the french farmer types i have this morning, he sounds quite normal! lol
