I am in the process of doing an engine change and I have broken one of the tubes on the fuel pump whilst trying to get the pipe on, but I have a electric fuel pump here on an old Morris with the plate that covers up where the normal mechanical pump goes as well.
Has anyone ever done this to replace it?
If so where did you put the pump and where did you wire it up and fit it?
I thought it might be a bit of a bodge, I have ordered a new mechanical pump and can pick it up today but I have since then put on the exhaust and carb manifold's ( which was a pain in the arse!!! ) and thought it may be a bit awkard to fit. How does everyone else fit fuel pumps when they go, as they do seem awkard to get to?
Any help on this will be much apprieciated.
Thanks.

I take it that it may as well be easier to get the same old fuel pump?
But is it easy to fit with exhaust and carb in place?

It is doable with the carb and manifold on. Underneath might give a bit more access posibly?

Stick with a mechanical one. An electric one normally needs mounting in the rear of the car. There's no convenient electrical supply there, you will really need a regulator with it to match the pressure and a pre-filter and they keep on spraying fuel if you crash. On a standard-ish engine a mechanical pump is fine. Fitting is pretty simple even with a single carb in place.

not when you got a cooper freeflow manifold. then getting to the pump is a pain in arse.
