i have just brought a 1275 block but with no gearbox and i no that the A boxeswont fit on a A+ block so how do u tell the difference??

Yes they will, so long as the drop gear set matches the transfer housing and crank nose. Unless you have a magic wand box, that's the only one that is specific to engine capacity AFAIK.
