Can someone please tell me the best place to put my speakers for best sound looks and practicallity.
I have 2x inch wide sony speakers which i want to put in the roof by the sun visors which are 80 watts
and two Kenwood which are 220w which im hoping to put just behing the rear pocket underneath the windows. Im hoping for a cheap but effective solution if this is possible? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the speakers? Many Thanks.

Im guessing your sony speakers are tweeters in which case near the sun visors would be ok but probably best in the top corner of the top dash rail near the windscreen, as for your kenwood speakers if you mount them behind you in the rear pockets you wont get a very good sound as all the mid range will be lost, Youre best off putting them in the front doors at the bottom near your feet or under the dash in some of these pods that are available. You need to be able to see them to get the best sound. But it all depends on how much effort you want to put in to install them.
As for a wiring diagram what do you need a diagram of?

The thing is i wanted to put the speakers somewhere out of the way and because im quite tall and a mini is quite small as it is! the speaker pod which ive seen seem to obscure the foot well.

If you dont want to obscure the Footwells. Then your only options are really Mounted on the Face of the dashboard. Like mine.

or mounted in a set of Door pods From a metro.

When you say SQ. What speakers are you planning to put down there.

I fitted a pair of Mids (Technically Subs, but I ran as Mids) below the rear bench. And they were perfect. Sent bass right though the Floor. ;)

If your thinking about putting Coaxs or Comps down there. Dont even think about it! :P

Tweeters, Comps belong infront of you.

in my first mini, ( back in 1997) i had 3 pairs of 3" 4" and 5" speakers under the rear seat..(yes they fit) 2 X 6" in the parcel shelf plus 1 8" in between them, all covered with accoustic foam so you couldn't see them... 12 sub and bass tube and amps in the boot and some 3 ways in the dash again hidden with the accoustic foam. i made my own dash liner and got rid of the foam/cardboard one.

I fitted the the head unit in the right hand bin behind the seat and the auto changer in the left hand bin and a joy stick remote control behind the indicator stalk.

From the outside, you wouldn't know that there was any ICE in the car... which was good because the doors didn't lock!!!

im running a set of mids angled slightly upwards under the rear seats and a set of coaxials in pods on the front doors, this is pretty much spot on, ill get a pic of my board, my speakers are sunk into the board with some thin acoustic carpet over the top so you can even see them

Yeah a pic would be great does anyone have a template/plan of a speaker board for under the rear seat. Also when fitting do you have to remove the rear seat.

Here's what i've got, I rekon they're about as good as you can get in a mini and fire the sound directly in to your ears.

Not the best pic but i'll do a new one once the new interior is fitted.

Aye,... The Philsters' pods will produce the best sound.

Under seat speaker boards are best for subs as the rather than the subsound being compeltely directional like a comp, it is emitted in all directions from the sub. not just forward from the speaker cone.

Speaker boards can be good though considering how cheap they are to make and install, if you're gonna have one, try and angle the speakers up slightly towards the cockpit.
