See thread.... http://www.theminifo...topic=4274&st=0
I've got the majority of the sound deadening in.... just finishing of the boot at the moment, but bi-eck it's hard work crawling around getting that stuff in..
So far I have done the floor, bulkhead (upto the dashrail), rear bins, quarters, rear seat squab and back rest, arhes, and into the boot. I've double skinned the bulkhead and tunnel, and am now halfway down my last of 4 rolls, probably just enough to do the rest of the boot..
Did the tap test down the side of the car, tapped the door( and rang like a bell ) tapped the rear quarter and all you get is thud....
Will take some photies when I've done the boot..

Yes, petals back on the to-do list...
A recent purchase on ebay has made up my mind, I'm going to build a big stroker automatic for her and is going to be a street cruiser. Going to try and build a column shift for the auto, and a dash mounted hand brake, which will leave the floor clear and maybe at some stage build a bench seat for the front...
Also the temptation to Chop the roof is getting a little hard to resist. but that may have to wait for another year...

I had my Mini done up and spent at least £2500 (not capable of doing anything useful myself). Then I had an altercation with a tree. I rescued it from Rover who said it would cost £2200 to fix and was beyond economical repair. The bodywork specialist who did sills and underneath for the MOT said he'd do it for £600 plus parts. He wants a donor car as he says he might have to cut other bits off here and there to rebuild it, but I'd prefer brand new panels (I need bonnet, front panel, 2 wings and 1 A-panel)or a flip front. Did you get a flip front for Petal? If so, how much was it? What do you reckon about mine?

I would avoid someone who is going to, essentially, cut and shut your car with another... yes new panels should be used and if you flip front ( which I'm doing with petal ) you have a choice.. either fiberglass or metal, Petals is the original metal front carefully removed, but a new metal front can be made up of new panels fairly easily..

Is it Petal's own original front restored, or the front of another Mini? I don't really want to reshell Bullet, as apart from the accident damage to the front, the bodywork is immaculate and has had a lot of work done to it before the respray. I also think that would be very expensive. I have another (grotty-ish) Mini which I think is dying. It needs a new wiring loom and electric fuel pump which a previous owner fitted. I've asked the mechanic to look at the underneath tomorrow, and if it is rotten I might donate it to repair my beautiful Mini. I could still buy new panels and the repairer could just cut off the other bits he needs. He says fibreglass is no good as it often doesn't fit very well. What do you reckon? I quite like the idea of fibreglass as it won't rust.
At first the insurance company said Bullet was worth £500, but I said they had to take the restoration into consideration. They begrudgingly paid £1200. I was still gutted as I think it was worth much more.

I agree with what Stormduck is saying, the is no problem with fibreglass, but sometimes the fit can be a little interesting.. It's worth spending the money on new panels, and getting them put onto the car...
