overheating engine!!

Hi all any advice on an overheating engine, diving up to bath do steady 40-60 mph and the gauge is reading in the red!!! is this common or do i need to look out for more serious things, i will check the water in radiator and go from there, regards worried mini fan rob, mini is a 998cc mayfair 1986 un leaded manual. cheers again!! rob. :w00t:

I had this problem to matey!

Check (this is what I did) the water pump for any leaks and check to see if the thermostat is working proberly. check that the radiator cap is working proberly to, if the seal has gone your coolant will leak via steam so check your coolant level too.

In the end for me it tured out to be the circuit board on the dash had burnt out so is was constanty reading boiling point lol.
