Guy's and Gals, can who advice me on the following area
Firstly i have just started to take the paint off inside the car to see what it is like underneath, as i want it right the first time. is this worth the time and effort doing this as one painter has said it is and another just has not commented and let me get on with it.
Secondly, i was thinking of having the doors and boot dipped to remove all the paint and also to see the condition. A chap i have seen today is saying it is a waste of time.
Thirdly. I have taken the front window out today and the window seal to find a rust whole which has been filled. is it better to replace the scuttle panel of patch it up.
thanks

Minis being fully restored from the ground up (stripped to a bare shell) or starting with a brand new Heritage donor shell, tend to have a full respray both inside and out (including inside the doors and boot lid.
If your just tidying it up cosmetically and aren't bothered that the colour is different behind the panels then leave it as it is?
I hear that the customising done by companies like Radford in the 1960's was all superficial and the cars were simply taped up and sprayed a different colour on the outside. So the engine bay, boot, under the carpets, behind the door cards etc were still left in the cars original colour.
As for the scuttle panel, well its up to you and so long as it's not coming apart with rust, you repair it properly and thoroughly rust proof it underneath with waxoyl or dinitrol then it should last alright.
