Will any front subframe fit my 1976 clubby?

Also with the rest of the engine up to spec what kind of road driving will a 296 cam give me?

No, you get twin bolt and single bolt subbys, so all wouldnt just bolt straight in.

Not sure on the cam

A '76 should be on a single tower bolt subby I think.

As for the cam, lumpy, difficult to pass MOT emmisions test and more suited to highly tuned engines. What spec is your engine?

Have you looked at the Kent cams website?

I think the rev range for a 296 is like 2500-8000rpm or something.

Think about the gearing of your car if you are gonna make it a high revver. Do you know what FD it has?

EDIT: moved to technical and problems

I think a kent 286 would be better as the car is going to be driven on the road..

EDIT: as i might not have enough for a straight cut box would a change of a FD still benefit me on a standard recon box?

Would a 1979 mini be twin or single bolt subby?

Yup! :w00t:

Nah, seriously, it'll be a single bolt. It's easy to tell by looking though. It's the bolts at the back, near the wiper motor on the left and master cylinders on the right.

'76 is the change point for twin bolt solid mounted to single bolt rubber mounted subframes (mk3 to mk4 Mini). Your car could have either so you need to look at it before buying a new one.
