timeing chain cover, gasket question

on the timing chain cover if ive removed it and the old gasket was C**p, would a silicone gasket be ok to refit with?

any idea?

I'd suggest getting a proper gasket.

Insto gasket isn't the greatest stuff in the world to be mixing with oil. My timing chain was fairly coved with that stuff as the previous owner has used 3 gaskets and insto stuff too.

With the timing cover, because they are very prone to getting bent out of shape and then leaking like a sieve... I use a gasket which is then smeared with a silicon sealant on both sides...but not too much just a thin bead will do...

call yourself a teacher lol

if you cant get a gasket, use gasket paper and loctite 574 instant gasket, at the worst use hylamar

nice to see you mark now get that car n the road
