can anyone suggest what exaust and inlet manifold i should be looking at that will fit below the heatsheilds and possibly improve performance?

hello, im new to this forum and i was wanting to get some info on exahust manifolds for my mk1 cooper s (1275). i have recently bought a new set of twin su's 1 1/4" complete with heat sheild. the problem that i have is that the heat sheild interfere with the exaust manifold (nearest to radiator). i am currently cetting some custom heatsheilds made up but i am aslo considering replacing my exahust manifold (and possibly inlet manifold) as both are quite old etc.
can anyone suggest what exaust and inlet manifold i should be looking at that will fit below the heatsheilds and possibly improve performance?

Hi there, and welcome to the forum.

Can I ask what ask what engine you have (bog standard 1275, Cooper 1275, Metro etc), and are the twin carbs for looks / period mod, or for performance?
Because if you are looking for better performance, you are prolly better off with a single, larger carb size of about 1.75" (HIF 38 or 44 depending on state of tune) rather than twins. As for the exhaust fanymold, an LCB would be a good improvement over standard. The inlet fanymold might be OK, but a Mini Spares alloy inlet or a metro inlet, depending on available space, would be a nice improvement over standard (assuming thats what you have?).
Others may be able to offer better / more detailed advice for your needs. Some one will be allong shortly

as far as i know it is a cooper 1275 not a metro or anything. i bought the twins to replace my existing set of twin h4's (really worn) basically i didnt want to replace the inlet manifold - i thought that i could swap the h2s's and all would be fine, but basically the heatsheilds dont fit with the exhaust manifold that i have, and i can only assume that i have an odd exhaust manifold??? how could i tell if the manifold that you suggested (LCB) will fit ???

Have you any pics of exactly where the problem is?
