i started bleeding my brakes, which is a single line type, today after renewing everything,

minisport 4 pots, new rear drums and wheel cylinders, new master cylinder, new pipes and braided hoses.

after pumping the brake pedal for about 10 minutes with the bleed nipples open and wondering why no fluid was moving i quickly wised up and tightnened the nipples then started pumping the fluid.

The T-piece however that splits the fluid from the master cylinder to the front and rear is leaking where connects to the pipe to the front brakes. The T piece is the origional from 1970 and the pipes are home made.

Is it likely the t piece is worn? or could it be a badly flared pipe? A friend told me to use ptfe tape on the joins is this needed? i thought the copper bedded in and sealed the pipes and the rest of the pipes seem ok.

Thanks for looking.

Daniel

possibly badly flared but hard to say without seeing it. ptfe will only seal the thread, if there is a bad flare then it'd be worth checking it out or u mite find that under pressure the pipe will pop off!! not good im sure you will agree!!

this morning i saw my new calipers are leaking also where the hose connects to it, think this is because the copper washers on the hose end have corroded a bit so i will buy more washers and try again. Ill also make a new pipe to the front brakes and see if that helps if not it'll be the T-piece.
