Hello

Nearing end of mini project and am wanting some noise in my car ;)

I have some infinity 6x9 in my peugeot daily road car, which i will be selling, so will proberly take the speakers out.

I also have some Jbl Gto626e grand touring series 6.5" 180watt 60rms speakers that are boxed and have not been used yet!

i was planning on putting the jbl speakers inthe dash vents, but there 5 cms too big!

SO i dunno what to do ?

Put the infinity 6.x9s in the parcel shelf and buy some tweeters ? to go in the air vents in the dash ? ( can someone explaine a abit about tweeters please! ) the 6x9 s are aparently 300watt peak , and 100 rms ? over kill ? not good in the back ? would the jbls be better?

or put the jbls in the back and tweeters in the front, or put either speaker in the back, and buy some 10cm speakers to go in the vents ??

basicaly what would be beter, 10cm speakers in the dash vents, or tweeters ????

I do have a amp, but id rarther run all these off the headunit please!!

by the way id much rarther have sound quality over loudness!!!! however i do need to be able to hear it over my engine....

Thanks :bah:

Dave :dontgetit:

Hell my head hurts after reading that ;)

Right first thing I would do is mount the 6.5" speakers up front, a better solution than the dash would be to fit them in some fibreglass kick pods.

That would give you about the best option for the front speakers, if made properly they can point the sound directly at your ears and with them being at the front the sound is where its supposed to be.

As for the 6x9's i'd personally sell them then save a little more money towards a sub and amp so you end up with a simple but effective 3 speakers setup, the fronts giving all the directional sound and the sub in the boot doing all the low down non-directional stuff.

Here's what i'm running atm

lol Sorry if it was too confusing :dontgetit:

And again sorry i should have elaborated more, i dont really want to use my amp, and definetly not get a sub :-

The car is more orientated towards the speed/handeling side of minis, so the sound that the cars guna have will be so i can have some music, however as i mentioned, id like it to sound as good as poss, without having to do much :- sorry if that sounds arogant :ermm:

to confirm, i want to put some speakers in the dash vent holes, these must either be tweeters, or 10mm speakers, so which would be best? would 10mm speakers give off enough sound? i found some sony ones on the halfords website, with about 130peak power, and 30 rms ??anygood? they also had a wider frequenxy range than my 6/9's?!?!?!

And which speakers should i use in the back ? the 6/9's or the jbl's?

I proberly wont bother selling the speakers i dont use to be honest, because they will proberly get used in my next car! so not really worth it lol

Those speakers do look nice philster! and i can imagine they sound good too!

just a thought, would i mount the jbl speakers under the bottom dash rail? sort of pointing down into the footwell, so there outa the way, but still in the front? would this be better than in the back, i could also then have 10cm ones in the dash, jbl under the dash, then 6/9's in the back ???????

Dave ;) thanks for your patience :bah:

Ok tweeters in the front and 6x9's or jbl's in the back is a no no unless all you want to hear is tiss tiss.
10cm in the dash vents then jbl's on th rear shelf or 6x9's under the rear seat is a better option.
Best option of not wanting a sub is jbl's in the front either in philster pod or some other pod but not under the dash pointing down and 6x9's under the rear seat but with some treble blockers so they only put out bass, hence a feeble version of a sub.

Right ok then, ill put some 10cm ones in the dash vents, then the jbls in the rear, will the jbls be able to make loud enough sound to hear over the engine? my only thought was that the 6/9's would be louder ? i dont want stupid loud music, but if its a good song i like to be able to turn it up a bit?.... without it distorting...

Thanks for your help ;)

6 inch coaxial or component will be as loud as a 6x9 just not as much bass, most standard cars come with 5's or 6's and there loud enough, head unit is the key to volume and lack of distortion, teh more power the better as it gives less distortion.

If you just want it to be loud then whack some 6x9's in the rear shelf and you can't go wrong.

I wouldn't ditch the 6.5" JBl's they'd be far better put to use in some kick/door pods up front :(
